December 13, 202l Cedar Vale Board of Education honored Mr. Tom Everett for twelve years of dedicated service to Cedar Vale Schools’ Board of Education. Mr. Everett was recognized by his peers and the administration for his dedication and service to our school and community.
Superintendent Mr. Rhodd stated: “ On behalf of the stakeholders of USD 285, Cedar Vale Schools, I would like to extend our appreciation to you for your twelve years of service. You can take great pride in knowing that during these twelve years you made a difference. The district navigated many changes during this time: upgrading our technology capabilities, upgrading our facilities, upgrading our transportation department, managing challenges of budget cuts, and addressing the challenges of COVID.
Leadership is about having the ability to listen to all sides of a topic and making an informed decision for the betterment of our district. We did not always land on the same side on issues but felt like we had honest discussion and at the end of the day worked together for our district. In unprecedented times, our district was able to give retention bonuses/raises for our staff. Our district was prepared to handle the challenges of budgeting and COVID by being forward thinking. Your leadership played a big part in positioning us to move forward with confidence.
Mr. Tom Everett our district is stronger today than it was twelve years ago. Thank you for your leadership and look forward to seeing the role you play in our community supporting our students and school.” Best Wishes, Superintendent Lance Rhodd.
The Board of Education presented Mr. Tom Everett with a plaque recognizing his twelve years of service. When asked what he felt his biggest accomplishment Mr. Everett stated “I guess my biggest accomplishment would be through declining enrollment and state budget cuts, we always made continued improvements to the school and we never had to cut any jobs, all the while still providing a quality education for our students”
Tom is a 1998 graduate of Cedar Vale Schools and resides in Cedar Vale with his wife,Tristan and their three daughters who all attend Cedar Vale Schools.
Thank you Mr. Tom Everett!
